What is Endocrinology?

Endocrinology is the study of hormones. At its simplest, a hormone is a chemical messenger from one cell, or group of cells, to another. Hormones are released (secreted) in the body and have an effect on other parts of the body.

The endocrine clinic was set up by Professor David Russell-Jones MD FRCP and includes a group of consultants who practice in Surrey, all of whom have extensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment and management of all endocrine disorders including diabetes, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, pituitary disorders including pituitary tumours and acromegaly, adrenal disorders including Addison’s disease and polycystic ovary syndrome. All of our consultants also have very large and successful NHS practices.


We welcome calls from medical practitioners for impartial advice on all aspects of endocrinology.
