Professor David Russell-Jones

Professor David Russell-Jones MD FRCP is a Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine and a Professor of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University of Surrey. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment and management of all endocrine conditions including diabetes, thyroid, adrenal and pituitary disorders. He heads a very busy NHS practice at the cedar centre, Royal Surrey County Hospital, he does extensive research and is an invited speaker at major international meetings around the world. In addition to all of this Professor Russell-Jones runs a busy private practice in Surrey called the endocrine clinic and he also undertakes medico legal work.

What is Endocrinology?

Endocrinology is the study of hormones. At its simplest, a hormone is a chemical messenger from one cell, or group of cells, to another. Hormones are released (secreted) in the body and have an effect on other parts of the body.
